SA William Kozlowski was killed on April 28, 1991 when the canoe on which he was embarked was struck by another Coast Guard vessel. Kozlowski and a second Coast Guardsman were cleaning the hull of a 44 foot MLB moored at Station Grand Haven, MI, when the 22 ft patrol boat came alongside. The boat’s operator made an abrupt turn, capsizing the canoe and fatally injuring Kozlowski.
