On October 22, 1981, the crew of CG-1427, a Sikorsky HH-52A Seaguard, were airborne on an instrument training mission near Mobile, AL. Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft suffered a critical failure which lead to an in-flight breakup of the helicopter and loss of the entire aircrew.
