Cicero Pierce

Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class Cicero Pierce, 22, of Los Angeles, CA, was fatally injured when he fell into a hold aboard USCGC Mesquite as the cutter was operating near Cheboygan, MI on May 18, 1956. Pierce was assisting in lowering a harbor marking buoy into the hold when he toppled in. His wife, Lucille, of Two Rivers, WI, was flown to the scene by Coast Guard helicopter and arrived shortly before his death.
